Iron Ink

The iron ink made a big stink

write down a bright right shirt

twas ironic that I’d hung it

tightly, strung it nicely

so the creases weren’t hurt.

Difficult to flatten when the heat’s turned down

find the pattern when the smoke abounds

so I burnt my hands going over life spans

worked out the lines wrote themselves

when I moved.

Made me think

wood would be easier to share

would wood be easier to bear

than this metal chained chair?

My mental electric answering machine said

there’s splinters there,

still iron, sword in my hands

I land a whole

in the clothes I’m not wearing.

Ink in my veins

eat enough page corners

put enough pen to fingers

and it starts to seep in

my angry red goes blue

shines through

this iron ink skin

knows what to do.

It’s honest, true.

My mess, is for you.
